So sorry to be out of the loop for the past few weeks. It's sort of a whip-lash situation around here--suddenly too much work and not enough time for art (or blog-visiting, I'm afraid. But I will get to everyone! Slowly but surely!)
Anyhow, I am sort of in a vexed situation (which I detail a bit, HERE) and I am trying to figure out what to cut out of my schedule so I actually HAVE TIME FOR ART. Since I literally have NO days off (just enough time to put everything down to go to sleep)...I haven't been able to finish any of THESE things:

....or any other ideas floating in my head.
Now, don't get me wrong--I am soooo grateful to even be employed, and farther so in work I love. But it's almost TOO much of a good thing! How to put the breaks on this crazy roller coaster ride?
But what can you do when you work 35 hours with animals, bees early morning or after work, prep for an online radio show, with guests, that you run (including advertising for it), and work part time as a farm manager on an urban farm? I love doing these things, but it's increasingly becoming clear to me that ART is my FIRST LOVE, and I become a bit unhinged when I am not allowed to be creative in a daily capacity.
So we will see. Hopefully I can get it all together so there are more posts coming your way!
Wow, Zan, talking about burning the candles at both ends!!! Ay yaya, muchacha!! But I understand how you feel when life gets in the way of your true love. We all go through this, some in cycles others are constant. I just take it one day at a time...have been doing that for years...got my training from raising an autistic child. So when you find the time seize the moment because that's about all you have sometimes.

I'm sending wishes for free time to make your art and for the rest of the things to work out for you. I hate to say it but you may have to give up something, do less of it or ask someone else to take over one thing even if it is just for a few hours a week.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, thanks for the advice!
ReplyDeleteGeorgina I KNOW! I mean, I wonder what I would do if I ever had kids! Where do you find the time? Sometimes I wonder if I AM spoiled in that I just need A DAY for myself?
Caroline--yes, I'm afraid something may have to go...but what? Hmmm....
I have stressed and stressed over not having enough time for everything. I finally had to prioritize abit and sadly my vintage clothing/textile business has had to suffer for the sake of my art. I love the vintage, but the art feeds my soul. When I have time, I try to do abit with the vintage, but I am now putting the art first. Try and determine what you are doing that nourishes you most...and then go from there.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, it is not easy!
Hugs,
Sue
Thank you Sue!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are very young and have lots of time to figure it all out, at least you are doing all the things you love. My motto is live in the now, draw a picture or two when you have time to remember the ideas, and eventually you will get to it, trust me Art never goes away, and your special little dolls with the sweetest faces I've ever seen, will live forever
ReplyDeleteOh, thankyou for the sweet comments on my Daughter, she grew up so fast!
your fairy friend
Karey
Hey Sweet Karey! Your daughter is lovely! That is great advice, too. I will figure it out :)
ReplyDeleteZan, I think you were writing about my life too! It is always hard to balance everything and find time for the things we love most. Sometimes I think it's all the other frustrations that make me love my art so much when I do get to do it. I am hoping you find a solution soon, you have some lovely things that need to get finished!
ReplyDeleteHi Zan, thanks for your well wishes. I'm feeling better but I will be getting surgery. I so can appreciate how you feel about mixing work and doing what you truly love, art. It can be very difficult but possible. Your work is so lovely and creative, I love visiting and seeing all your wonderful pieces. Have a wonderful, creative night. God bless. Cathy
ReplyDeleteSo in line with your comment over at my blog! (Thank you so much for that!)
ReplyDeleteMay we each find time to create...our art and our peaceful selves.
Hi Zan,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been very very busy...it's hard to find balance, isn't it? I know you will sort it all out to find what is right for you though...don't ever give up on your artistic vision..it's too special to put on the side burner [for too long].
Take care and do drop by to see me when you have a spare moment.
Hugs,
Stephanie ♥
Hi Zan, thanks for stopping by my blog. Your kind words are greatly appreciated. I so hope you can find time to continue your art. You are very talented and it should not be negleted. I know with work and other demands it is very difficult to work it all in, but put your art as high on the list as you can. God bless. Cathy
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where to post -- here or on the other blog... so I'll do it here I guess. Looks to me like you have a lot on your plate - maybe too much. Which do you put back? Looks like your choice will define you, Zan. Of course we all need to eat but we need to feed our souls too. Hugs, Lisa
