OWOH Giveaway!!

UPDATE!! I WILL BE TAKING COMMENTS UNTIL MIDNIGHT, Eastern Standard Time (United States). After this, I WILL ALLOW NO MORE COMMENTS! I will pick a winner February 15th and will contact that winner. Thank you all for your overwhelming interest in the Vagabond Dolls!!

It's here! The One World One Heart Giveaway:

The wonderful Lisa Swifka of A Whimsical Bohemian created this event as a way to bring community together. This my second wonderful year participating and I wanted to thank Lisa for her monumental effort in putting this truly imaginative event together (CLICK HERE FOR LISA's site)

And so, I suppose one could say this Vagabond thanks a Bohemian for this creative happening.

As such, I've decided to offer up a Vagabond of my own.....

Waiting to go home with YOU, is this "Tiny Vagabond."

She is appropriately dressed up for Valentine's Day (how many hearts do you see?) and is looking for a new home to share HER HEART in this One World One Heart Giveaway.

Tiny Vagabond is a One of A Kind doll, made of cloth from a pattern I made myself. I hand-painted, sanded, then detailed her. She has a few heart buttons on her hat, and on her waist, and the heart she holds has glitter atop it. She would love to go home with YOU!

What you need to do to enter this giveaway:

1. You MUST have a blog to enter.

2. National and International participants are allowed.

3. PLEASE LEAVE ONE comment ON THIS POST, ONLY.
Extra comments will be deleted for the sake of fairness. I will not count comments on any post other than THIS post.

4. Please leave an email under your comment so that I can easily find you if you win.

5. PLEASE COMMENT NO LATER THAN FEB 14th.

6. I will pick ONE WINNER February 15th!

**ALSO** You can see my other blog HERE for another One World One Heart Giveaway!

Good luck, thank you for participating, and nice to meet everyone!

Oh Dear!

Hello Friends!

Forgive me for the delay in posting, but creativity is a-foot! I've been painting madly, and working on giveaways, which will all come together this week!

First, over at my other little farm endeavor (you do know I have a penchant for all things nature and agricultural, right?), I have a giveaway of three farmy and nature magazines:

By the way, you MIGHT find SOMEONE familiar within the pages of one of these magazines!

So if you're interested in that sort of thing, mosey on over to therenegadefarmer.com and check out the details!

Next, I've been holed up doll crafting like never before. I am currently trying to finish up THREE little dolls for the One World One Heart giveaway. One each for THIS blog, my BeyondVagabond Blog, and one for our team giveaway for Art Dolls Only. Which is a good thing, since I've resolved this year to get more art work of this sort done.

Here are two I am currently working on...

One is a sweet, forest-y kind of vagabond:

The other is--umm, a bit on the dark side?

She's still being prepped, and she perhaps looks startling, but I'm still working on this technique, which I really like. Here's another view:

What do you think?

Now I'm off to create the third dolly....

In the meantime, stay tuned to these blogs to see how you can win one of these "Mini-Vagabonds" soon! And I wish you all a great weekend!

The Past and The Present(s)!

Hello Dears!

Here is my first official post at Vagabond Creations! I wanted to thank all of you who have continued to follow me here!

After returning home from a delayed holiday vacation, today's post is brim-full of happiness! I first wanted to show you this lovely gift I got from Diane of Dianie Mac Designs (CLICK HERE TO SEE HER WORK), which I only got upon my return home.

I've heard of Diane's amazing work for some time now, but I first got to know her when she entered my Monster In the Close Swap. Here's the doll she created for that swap, by the way:

Isn't Diane amazing?

And here's the wonderful present I got from Diane!

I'm not sure what I've done to deserve this, but I am blown away by such a heartfelt and generous gesture! Clearly she realizes my love of bees, and if you look closely you can see a wonderful flower motif at the bottom, and this extends around the base of this doll, as do wonderful little beads and baubles, and glitter, which are added with care all around this doll. Folks, these are the kind of dolls Diane makes and if you are ever in the market for an amazing doll and other art, PLEASE visit her site!

Diane, you are too much! This is so heartwarming I don't know what to say!! THANK YOU!!

In the meantime, here are some other happy items I am bringing back from my trek home!

A "flock" of yarn, given as a Christmas gift for my new journeys in knitting.

I have to say I am particularly fond of the brown and white Fisherman's yarn, on the right. I would call myself a good crocheter, but I knit badly. I have resolved to right this problem this year. Alas, I have a feeling that the poor wool will resultingly be trounced in my attempts!

I also received as a Christmas gift this book on draft horses and drawn carriages:

I know this seems bizarre and out of place until you realize I am also doing this project as well (you do know I have THIS OTHER BLOG, right?).....

Finally, I brought home with me the drawings I did as a younger girl. Before performing arts, I REALLY started my arts career as a wee girl, and my first love was drawing. It seems, during most of my girl-dom, I was drawing, and it stands out highly in my memory--every time I turned around, there I was, drawing random things. This eventually progressed into a short lived career as an illustrator, before art on stage took over.

Anyhow, here are some of those drawings in my teens and twenties (click to enlarge):

By the way, you can read more about these on my Beyond Vagabond site!

In the meantime, if you are interested in hearing me on the radio, and happen to like farmy stuff, please see my Renegade Farmer site, as I will be on the air THIS SUNDAY, at 6pm

AND--HOLD ON--there's a giveaway on this blog coming! Perhaps as soon as tomorrow!

Thank you for joining me on this trip to the past, and celebrating the present (and presents!)

New Year, New Decade, New Plans!

A belated New Year, Everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile..since my last post I've actually been enjoying the holidays with my family in Florida.

This time of year is always perfect for reflecting on what has happened this year, and tell you about a few of the goals and plans I have coming up!

In 2009:

*Participated in One World One Heart
*Joined Art Dolls Only, became a blogger, and then a blog administrator (thanks ADO!)
*Continued my Dream Farm Job Search from 2008
*Finished working on my online magazine, Big Town Farmer
*Continued working with animals on a freelance basis
*Went to Pennsylvania, Kansas, and several other places only to find heartache at a lack of jobs that wanted me.
*Began working with 3 hives of bees in New York City
*Said a final goodbye to our sweet family dog
*Hosted a Mermaid Parade and a Monster Mash.
*Participated in several blog parties, blog challenges, made many new, creative, imaginative souls and learned so much!

Up for 2010:

*Learn to play my violin, which has been gathering dust!

*Perfect my knitting

*Add to my etsy store

*More doll swaps!

*Finish up THIS THE MERMAID TALES

*Finally find the dream farm and the dream farm job

* Do something daring...

WAIT! The last three are happening sooner than you'll know! And I'll have a special announcement about THIS BLOG! It's gonna be big, so hold onto your seats!
